Diamond Flower Brooches

The Diamond Flower or Rose Brooches belonged to Queen Emma and were a gift from King Willem III. He bought them in 1888 from Mellerio dits Meller in Paris.

Then Crown Princess Juliana has worn them as hair ornaments in the late 1920's, early thirties. For her wedding in 1937, Princess Juliana had the brooches mounted on a silk and pearl bandeau, as the rose is the symbol of her husband's family (Lippe).

Her daughter Beatrix seems to have received the brooches as a gift from her mother for one of her birthdays and has worn the diamond flowers on a necklace, as brooches and as earrings. She wears them regularly and it seems that they are some of her favourite pieces of Jewellery.
