Diamond Rivières

The Orange-Nassau collection seems to contain a couple of diamond Rivières /collet set diamond necklaces.

Queen Emma received a rivière of 34 brilliant cut diamonds in 1879 as a wedding present from the Dutch population. That necklace however was turned into a tiara setting.

Some sources mention that in the present collection there's a diamond rivière that once belonged to Queen Anna Paulowna's mother, Empress Maria Feodorovna. The problem however is that these necklaces can be shortened or extended quite easily therefore identifying them becomes very difficult.

Recently Queen Beatrix 'added' an other necklace to the collection when she started wearing what seem to be the large diamonds of the Diamond Festoon Necklace as a diamond rivière * as well.
