| Queen Juliana owned many Aquamarines. She received most, if not all, as presents over the years. The white gold necklace with the large pear shaped Aquamarine set in a ring of diamonds (1) was a wedding present in 1937 from her husband, Prince Bernhard, as was the large rectangular aquamarine surrounded with baguette cut smaller stones (2). The large square Aquamarine cushion brooch (3) was an other present from Prince Bernhard, this time for their 25th wedding anniversary in 1962. It's an Edwardian brooch set in platinum. It is unclear who gave her the diamond and aquamarine earrings (4) with two sets of aquamarine pendants and the bracelet with the rectangular aquamarines (5). The larger pendants of the earrings (6) are recently also worn as a single pendant on a diamond necklace. Queen Juliana and Queen Beatrix, and other members of the Royal family for that matter, have worn these jewels often together with pieces of the Art Deco Aquamarine Parure, reason why it's often thought that all Aquamarines belong to the same set. |
