| Over they years, Queen Juliana received several pieces of Sapphire jewellery from her husband, Prince Bernhard. It started with the pair of platinum earrings set with small diamonds with cabochon sapphires pendants which she received prior to their wedding in 1937. Since then she received a platinum necklace with pendant: a large cabochon sapphire set on diamond studded leaf. Later on she received a brooch with various multicoloured sapphires. Queen Juliana seems to have left these private jewels to her daughters. Princess Irene and her daughter Margarita have been wearing the diamond and sapphire earrings in recent years. |
