| Queen Sophie had a large collection of brooches that were worn on the sleeves of dresses during the first half of the 19th century. This is one of the remaining brooches made of diamonds and pearls. It's a round brooch made of two rows of diamonds with a large pearl in the middle and a large drop pearl pendant that can be detached. Queen Beatrix seems to be very fond of this piece, as was her grandmother, Queen Wilhelmina. In recent years also Princess Maxima has discovered this piece. |
