Diamond & Pearl Setting Emerald Tiara |

This
recently created tiara is actually a second setting of the tiara from the
Emerald Parure.
The diamond and emerald clusters are removed from the diamond frame and the tiara is then topped with large drop pearls from the family
collection. Although made in 2001,
as a possible wedding tiara for Princess Maxima, this setting was not
introduced until 2003 when Princess Maxima wore it for the first
time. A year later Princess Maxima wore the same tiara setting
again but this time it seemed that there were different - more slender
and greyish -
drop pearls used. Possibly from the
Württemberg
or Ornate Pearl Tiara.
Princess Laurentien has only once worn this setting in 2004. Princess Margriet has worn the tiara both with and without the upright pearls attached to it and as of late Queen Beatrix has also been spotted with the tiara in it's diamond and pearl setting. One wonders why a new pearl setting was required as there are already several diamond and pearl tiaras in the vaults. |
